Expectations for Learning Online

It is important that students understand their responsibility as learners to engage their online educational experiences each day. In addition, you are responsible for the same regulations as listed in the CCSD Student Code of Conduct. This includes appropriate online behavior within the our online learning platform.
Below are expectation that will guide the use of the your computer when your are online during and after class time. These rules have been designed to keep our computers and online educational experience functioning at the highest standard. Please read the following information and sign below.

If there is a problem with meeting the online expectations...
General Consequences:
1st offense: Warning and conference with you.
2nd offense: Conference with your parent(s) or guardian(s).
3rd offense: Submission report to the school administration
Note: Severe violations of technology usage at this school (as determined by Canarelli Middle School's Administration) may result in removal of ALL computer privileges through the end of a quarter. Alternative unplugged computer science assignments are not congruous to the course activities, projects, and assignments, and may result in an unsatisfactory student evaluation for the quarter.
These policies and procedures must be adhered to, and any violations may result in the aforementioned consequences, loss of computer access for the remainder of the quarter, or placement in another elective depending on the severity of the circumstance.
Below are expectation that will guide the use of the your computer when your are online during and after class time. These rules have been designed to keep our computers and online educational experience functioning at the highest standard. Please read the following information and sign below.
- Access our website, and read the posts on the website calendar before class begins every day.
- Be sure your device is fully charged prior to class, and turn off your microphone and camera.
- Attendance requirements are similar to campus requirements. Be sure to login at least 2 minutes prior to the start of class.
- CCSD devices are to be used for educational purposes. Programs on the classroom computers are only permitted by prior review from the teacher. Games, social media (e.g. Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, WhatApp, Kik, Discord), Internet Games, Youtube, chat rooms, Instant Messengers, Fantasy Football/Basketball, etc., are NOT permitted.
- DO NOT record our online sessions. Online privacy for all participants / students is paramount.
- DO NOT create your own online meetings.
- Always demonstrate online learning etiquette.
- Wear proper attire.
- Choose an organized and non-distracting location to work.
- Know how to mute and unmute your microphone.
- Give your full, and focused attention.
- Participate. Be patient and ask questions. Avoid dominating the conversation. Speak in a clear manner so everyone can hear.
- When your camera is on, use hand gestures (raise your hand) when you have a question or would like to speak.
- Submit your question in the chat box if you have a question for the whole class, or if you do not have your camera off.
- Be conscious of your words and camera presence. Humor and nonverbal interactions can unintentionally backfire. Polite language.
- Be prepared to support other students. Online collaborative groups will be discussed in class.
- Exit our online meetings when our class time is over. The teacher will be the first and last person to enter/exit each online class.
- Submit your assignments and projects on time. Make use of class time available for independent and small group support. Seek help by being aware of the teacher's virtual office hours and communication methods.
- Stay on topic. Avoid creating off-subject conversations with other students during class and independent work.
- Never be rude. Converse as if you are facing someone in person.
A special note about cell phones, headphones, and other electronic devices while at Canarelli Middle School:
- No cell phones or headphones are allowed during class or while passing. Cell phones should be turned to silent mode and stored.
- Cell phones may be accessed before school, during lunch, and after the final class bell has sounded.
- Students observed wearing headphones or accessing their cell phones may have them confiscated by the Student Success team.
